Photography workshop

Our own Morten Gåsvand is a professional photographer specialising in the documentary genre. For his photography workshops here in Rindal, he uses nature in the local area and Trollheimen. Both provide great subjects and exciting challenges whatever the season.

Morten is a writer too. His book about the giant pines in Trollheimen has been a great success.

Group size: The workshops are suitable for 3-8 people.

What a 3-day photography workshop involves

Overview and planning We begin by getting an overview of the participants’ photographic equipment and ambitions/expectations. The field sessions are then planned based on weather, road conditions and lighting conditions.

Out in the field: During the field sessions, participants’ understanding of nature is developed further. We work on seeing the whole, and composing and photographing the landscape. But it is just as important to train our ability to see and photograph all the details that nature is full of. It goes without saying that we also look at things like lens choice, camera settings and filter use.

And, of course, we also visit some jewels of Trollheimen that can be difficult to find without someone who knows the area. Trollheimen is a very lush and distinctive mountain range, so there is a lot to choose from.

In the evenings: Apart from the purely social side of things, we have to edit what we have captured during of the day. There will also be an opportunity to print images on photo paper in the lab. The printer can supply photographs with a short edge measuring up to 110 cm.

Recommended equipment: Camera gear, tripod (great to have) and laptop. Camera backpack or bag, depending on what and how much you have.

Clothing: Sturdy, waterproof footwear, all-weather jacket and cap. Otherwise dress for the season.

Accommodation: Four nights full board at the Saga Trollheimen Hotel are included in the price.

Price: Four nights and three full course days cost NOK 6,350.

The course fee is payable no later than 6 weeks before the course starts. There are no refunds on cancellations less than 2 weeks before the course starts.

How to get here: Rindal and Trollheimen are in the middle of Norway, off Highway 65. We are 96 km southwest of Trondheim and 120 km from Molde. If you come on the E6, we are a 70 km drive from Berkåk, where you will also find the nearest railway station.
